Raven & Beast Boy
Ciao a tutti! È da un po'di tempo che non pubblico niente sul blog, purtroppo con scuola, lavoro e altri impegni non ho avuto molto tempo, e vi spiegheró il perché.
Prima di tutto parliamo di San Valentino. Essendo la festa un Martedi, abbiamo deciso di festeggiarla un sabato. Cosí ci siamo scambiati le solite cartoline sdolcinate con qualche cioccolatino e fiori (la mia cartolina aveva R2D2 ❤). Siamo andati a mangiare in un posto Italo-americano, il cibo non era il massimo, ma l'importante per me era stare insieme, e dopo tutto siamo riusciti a passare una bella serata insieme!
Per il nostro anniversario invece, che è stato il 28 Febbraio, ci siamo scambiati dei regali, io gli ho regalato alcune nostre foto, una espansione per il gioco fa tavolo Catan e una lettera, lui mi ha regalato giochi per il mio 3Ds (mi conosce bene). Siamo poi andati a cena fuori nel ristorante dove siamo andati per il nostro primo appuntamento, e infine speso la fine della serata con alcuni amici.
Sono molto contenta di aver potuto condividere queste giornate insieme a lui, mi rende davvero felice.
Hello everyone! It's being a while since last time I posted something here, unfortunately with school, work and other commitments I didn't have much time, and I will explain why. First of all let's talk about Valentine's Day. Since the holiday was on a Tuesday, we decided to celebrate it on a Saturday. So we exchanged the usual corny postcards with some chocolates and flowers (my card had R2D2 ❤). We went to eat at an Italian-American place, the food wasn't that great, but the important thing for me was to stay together, and after all we were able to spend a nice day together! For our anniversary instead, which was February 28, we exchanged gifts, I gave him some of our photos, an expansion for the board game Catan and a letter, he gave me some games for my 3Ds (he knows me well). We then went out to dinner on the restaurant where we went for our first date, and then spent the end of the evening with some friends. I am very happy to have been able to share this days with him, he makes me really happy.
Terminato Febbraio, è arrivato il momento del mio compleanno. A lavoro, visto che il mio compleanno era di domenica, hanno appeso festoni il venerdi ed è stato tutto molto carino, mi hanno fatta sentire speciale!
Quella stessa sera, Caleb non poteva aspettare sino a Domenica per darmi il suo regalo, quindi l'ho aperto il Venerdi, e con grande sorpresa, era la polaroid che tanto volevo ❤.
Il sabato abbiamo voluto festeggiarlo noi due da soli cosí da poter poi festeggiare la domenica con la famiglia che mi ospita. La mattina sono andata da Mac per farmi truccare in vista del cosplay, cosí tutta carina, io e Caleb siamo andati a mangiare Coreano! Dopodiche siamo andati a casa di Carol Ann a festeggiare il mio compleanno tutti insieme con i suoi amici.
Stare lontani da casa durante un giorno speciale come questo non è semplice, per niente. Non mento nel dire che ho pianto davvero tanto, ma ancora una volta ho avuto una persona accanto a me che in quei momenti è riuscita a consolarmi ed asciugarmi le lacrime.
La Domenica mia sorella e Jane hanno preparato la cena per me e abbiamo festeggiato tutti insieme! Jane mi ha regalato delle foto mie e di Caleb e delle cartucce per la polaroid di Alice nel paese delle meraviglie, troppo carine!
After February, it is the time for my birthday. At work, because my birthday was on Sunday, they had hung festoons on Friday, and it was all very nice, they made me feel special! That same evening, Caleb could not wait until Sunday to give me his gift, so I opened it on Friday, and surprise surprise, it was the Polaroid I wanted so bad ❤. On Saturday we wanted to celebrate the two of us alone, so that we could then celebrate on Sunday with my host family. The next morning I went to Mac and they made the makeup for my cosplay that was gonna be couple of weeks later. Being all pretty with my fantastic makeup, Caleb and I went to eat Korean food! After that we went to Carol Ann's home to celebrate my birthday together with his friends. Stay away from home during a special day like this is not easy, not at all. I'm not lying saying that I cried a lot, but again I had someone next to me that on those moments was able to console me and wipe my tears off. On Sunday my sister and Jane have made dinner for me, and we celebrated together! Jane gave me the pictures of me and Caleb and films for my Polaroid of Alice in Wonderland, so cute!
Dopo tutto queste giornate piene di festeggiamenti, arriva il momento di parlare del cosplay!
Per la mia classe di Project Management, dovevamo decidere un progetto da fare e portare a termine entro la fine del semestre. Pensando un po' alle possibilitá di cosa avrei potuto fare, mi sono consultata con Caleb e abbiamo deciso che avremmo fatto Raven e Beast Boy al FanX qui in Salt Lake il 18 Marzo.
Inizialmente tutto era molto divertente ed eccitante, avevo scelto di fare le versioni di Gabriel Picolo, e chiedendo un po' in giro ero riuscita a farmi un idea dei material di cui avevamo bisogno.
Quando tutto è arrivato, si è scatenato l'inferno.
La parrucca di Beast Boy non siamo riusciti ad acconciarla (che nabbi che siamo), la pietra da mettere in testa era troppo grande, e avevo l'ansia nello scrivere nella mia maglietta.
Fortunatamente sono riuscita sia a scrivere nella maglietta, che comprare un altra pietra, per la parrucca non c'era niente da fare, abbiamo dovuto rimediare con una tinta per capelli non permanente.
Il giorno del cosplay ci siamo svegliati alle sette cosí da prepararci in tempo per essere li alle dieci. Tutto sembrava andare bene, quando ho notato che facevo fatica a spargere il colore nel mio viso nel mentre che Caleb non aveva nessun problema con il suo. Ho provato e provato, ma niente, sembrava come se avessi del gesso che si stesse sgretolando su tutto il viso. Nel panico e disperata nel aver perso quasi due ore, ho optato nel usare i miei trucchi normali e cercare semplicemente di farmi un pochino piú pallida del solito. Fortunatamente ha funzionato! Ora un altro problema che si aggiungeva era mettersi le lenti a contatto. Nessuno dei due è bravo nel metterle, Caleb non le hai mai usate, ed io le avevo messe solo un paio di volte (e anche a quel tempo non le avevo messe io ma un'amica me le aveva messe), quindi eravamo un po' nel panico. Fortunatamente io sono riuscita a metterle relativamente veloce, per Caleb invece ho dovuto infilare io il dito nel suo occhio per mettergliele.
Tutti e due pronti e con il bagno e camera sua in disordine, ci siamo diretti al FanX verso le dodici, due ore in ritardo di quanto avessimo programmato.
Trovare parcheggio ci sono voluti 40 minuti, ma finalmente eravamo riusciti ad arrivare!
Era pieno di gente, e noi speravamo di essere apprezzati. Dopo qualche tempo di girare per stand, la gente ha incominciato a chiederci foto, e mi sono ricordata perchè mi piace cosí tanto fare cosplay. Portare un personaggio che tanto ti piace, essere apprezzata e rendere felice gli altri, è qualcosa che non si puó esprimere a parole. Sono contenta di aver fatto questo personaggio insieme ad il mio ragazzo, e di aver realizzato qualcosa che volevo fare da tempo.
Finito tutto, ho scritto a Gabriel Picolo riguardo al cosplay, e lui era entusiasta di come avevamo portato le versioni che lui aveva creato di Raven e Beast Boy. Sono davvero contenta di aver potuto intraprendere questa piccola avventura insieme alla persona che amo, nei momenti belli, e quelli di assoluto stress. Spero di poterli rivevere!

After all these days full of festivities, it's time to talk about the cosplay! For my class of Project Management, we had to decide to do a project and finish it by the end of the semester. Thinking a little about the possibility of what I could do, I consulted with Caleb, and we decided that we would do Raven and Beast Boy at the FanX here on Salt Lake on March 18. Initially it was very fun and exciting, I had chosen to do the versions of Gabriel Picolo, and asking a little bit around I was able to have an idea of the materials we needed. When the materials arrived, it was all hell broke loose. We weren't able to style Beast Boy's wig as it was suppose to be (such noobs), the stone that I was suppose put on my forehead was too big, and I had the anxiety of writing on my t-shirt. Luckily I was able to write it on the t-shirt, I bought another milestone, but for the wig there was nothing to do, we had to replace it with non-permanent hair tint. The day of cosplay we woke up at seven to be able to get ready on time to be there at ten. Everything seemed fine when I noticed that I was struggling to shed the color on my face, while Caleb had no problem with his. I tried and tried, but nothing, it seemed like I had chalk that was crumbling all over my face. On panic and despair losing nearly two hours doing it, I opted on using my normal makeup and just try to get me a little bit more pale than usual. Luckily it worked! But of course not all problems were fixed, we needed to wear our contact lenses. Neither Caleb or me are good on wearing them, Caleb have never used them, and I used them only a couple of times (and at that time one of my friends did it for me), so we were a bit panicking. I managed to put them relatively fast, for Caleb instead I had to put my finger on his eyes. With the both of us ready, and the bathroom and his room messy, we headed to FanX a little bit past twelve o'clock, two hours later than we had planned. It took us 40 minutes to park, but finally we managed to get there! It was full of people, and we were hoping our costumes to be appreciated. After some time wondering around, people have begun to ask us pictures, and I remembered why I love so much cosplaying. Bring a character that you like so much, being appreciated, and make others happy, it is something you can not express with words. I'm glad I did this character together with my boyfriend, and I realized that I want to do this with him for a long time. At the end of the convention, I wrote to Gabriel Picolo about the cosplay, and he was thrilled with how we had brought the versions of Raven and Beast Boy that he had created. I'm really glad I took this little adventure with the person I love, on good times, and those of absolute stress. I hope we can do it again!
